4 Skills to Highlight in a Cover Letter to Score a Job in Insurance

Mathematical and analytical skills are important in many insurance careers, such as accounting, sales, underwriting, and marketing. It’s important to be able to accurately calculate risk when considering an individual for insurance, as well as calculate premiums and coverage. This requires you to be proficient in algebra and statistics. It’s also important to be able to do quick, basic math in any position that involves money.
Strong communication skills are important in any job, but in a career where you could potentially be working with clients, they are especially desirable. Being able to effectively communicate with your clients will ensure that both you and the client understand their coverages, rates, premiums, and more. It’s also important to be able to answer any questions a client may have about their policy or claim. Communication skills include reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
