Nominate an Outstanding teacher for OII’s 2021 Insurance Educator of the Year Award
The Ohio Insurance Institute’s Insurance Educator of the Year award is our way of recognizing educators for excellence in insurance or financial literacy education. Annually, we honor an Ohio educator who, through their creative and innovative teaching style, includes insurance or financial literacy as part of a course curriculum.
We’re now accepting nominations through Feb. 19 for the 2021 Insurance Educator of Year award.
The competition is open to educators in Ohio vocational and high schools and nominations can be submitted by anyone who wants to recognize a deserving educator – principals, administrators, students, insurance professionals, other educators. Educators can even nominate themselves!
The award recognizes both the educator and the school, and the OII’s Education and Workforce Development Committee serves as the judging committee.
In appreciation, the winning educator and school receive:
- $1,000 awarded to the educator
- $500 awarded to the educator’s school
- Special recognition during OII’s Annual Meeting
- Reimbursement of course fees (up to $500) for successfully completing a future graduate-credit workshop or course designed for high school educators
- A recognition plaque
Madisyn Curry, a family and consumer science teacher at Leipsic Local Schools, was named 2020 Insurance Educator of the Year for creating a Next Generation of Personal Finance curriculum. This course teaches students how to make informed financial choices by educating them on the different insurance products available in Ohio, how insurance works and potential careers in the insurance industry.
If you know an educator who’s doing an outstanding job instructing on insurance topics, honor their achievements by nominating them for this award.
The nomination deadline is Feb. 19, so submit your nomination today!
